First Washington State Capitol

First state Capitol, in use fifteen years, was a two-story frame struc­ture. The House of Representatives met downstairs, the Senate upstairs. This building, previously used as the territorial Capitol, was the scene of the consti­tutional convention when Washington be­came the forty-second state. (Seattle Times Archives, 1939)
